What's Happening
The process to repeal many components of the Affordable Care Act began January 3rd with the introduction of a budget resolution, which has now passed through both the U.S. House and Senate. The budget triggers "budget reconciliation," the process that is being used to repeal most of the ACA with just a simple majority vote.
Through the budget process, Congress can affect components of the ACA that are related to revenue. That includes major provisions of the law and funding for financial assistance to lower insurance premiums, funding for the Medicaid program, certain taxes that help fund the ACA, cost-savings from Medicare, the individual mandate to have health insurance coverage, and much more.

The current "repeal and delay" strategy will throw Colorado's health care system into chaos, and could remove health insurance coverage of up to nearly 600,000 Coloradans.
